Reno, Anyone?

For my whole life, I've noticed that everyone knows someone from Preston. It's just such a small world. And when we went to Spokanne a couple months ago, we discovered that several of our friends here in Pocatello have lived there in the past. So this weekend, Derrick and I are going to Reno, but I can't seem to find ANYONE who has lived there or even spent much time there. So, my friends, have any of you ever lived or even spent time in Reno? I mean, more time than a bathroom break on the way to Northern California. All that I've really heard is that it's in the mountains, close to Tahoe, WINDY (seriously, after Pocatello, do you think the wind could even phase us?), mini-Las Vegas (meaning casinose), and no state sales tax (can't hate that). But I would love to know more. So tell me all about it!

I'll tell ya about it. It's too far away from us...it's in the middle of no-where...and it's too far away from us!! What more do you need to know?

My mom has friends with a time share in Tahoe. Mom goes every year and loves it. Says its so so so pretty. You will just have to buy a boat.

Call Joanne. Brian's parents are there. Brian may have spent growing up time there, I think anyways.

We have some really good friends that both grew up in Reno. She absolutely loves it and he... not so much. However, they lived on very opposite ends of the valley and I guess, like most cities, one side is really nice, clean, good schools etc. and the the other is kinda trashy. I am not sure which side is which, but I can ask if it would help. I seem to remember something like you want to stay away from the Sparks side (part of Reno), but I'm not sure.

I spent a few days in Sparks for my BYU construction team competition, and I thought it was OK. Of course I only saw it out of my 20 story hotel room window overlooking a train yard.

I will respectfully disagree with Nicky's comment above. Pocatello is to far away, Reno is much closer for us! Tug-O-War. -Jordan

Dave's sister and her family have lived there for about 15 years and they love it! I have a friend who also lived there and she loved it too... We have visited there and we think it's really beautiful... there is a river running right through the city and Tahoe is unbelievable!!! It is gorgeous and there is great skiing close by. Also - you are only 3 hours from San Francisco! That is an AWESOME vacation destination! Good luck with your big decision! I think Reno would be a good place to live!

Reno is no good...we missionaries can't come and visit if it is in Reno...St. George is MUCH better...a nice little Mormon Pioneer town....just my humble opinion.
