Done Pondering

My sister asked me today if I've finished pondering yet, since my last post was FOREVER ago, and I really just haven't had much to say since! Really, though, this is a good thing because it means that I am up and going, and don't have much time for blogging. Desmond is 4 weeks old today, and honestly, I thought the road to recovery was going to be so much longer and bumpier. But it seems like last Monday, when I hit the 3 week mark, my body just decided to get going. No, I'm still not doing jumping jacks (although I tried today to show Myah how, and it didn't work very well), and I'm not training for a marathon, but I am cooking, cleaning, walking, mowing some of the lawn, and even sleeping in my bed (AND getting out of it all by myself!). So I'm certainly not complaining.

Since our last update, Desmond has started to wake up just a little. I don't remember the newborn slumber lasting this long with my other babies, but I don't really remember much. This whole experience has been like I'm a first time mommy all over again (only much more wise and mature...aka 'old'...than the last time around). Little Des is a really good baby so far. He never really cries. He likes to grunt and groan a lot though. It gets pretty intense sometimes.

Other than baby stuff, our house is full of students, soccer players, musicians, football players, preteens (with several different mood swings each and every day), preschoolers (I'm doing an at home preschool with Myah), neighbors, friends, yummy food (from those neighbors and friends), and of course, many memorable moments.

Zacary is living the competitive soccer life this fall. Yes, he's actually living it, because he has several hours of practice each week, plus several games each week. We travel here, there, and everywhere to cheer him on, and we seriously love every second of it. The league has combined the age groups, so Zac is two or three years younger than most of his team, but he is really holding his own very well. He has proven himself to the coach, and it seems like the coach is counting on him as a valuable team member. Way to go Zac!

Skyler is in football again this fall. He's playing for the same coach that has coached him for the past 2 years. He really has fun, and I like the workout it gives him! He's made good friends from all over Pocatello just by playing sports. Everywhere we go, it seems like Skyler knows somebody who has been a teammate to him.
Tannon is playing soccer this season too. It seems like he's at the age that he's finally starting to 'get it'. It's becoming fun to watch his team, and Tannon does really well.

Myah is getting her home preschool and she starts dance this week too. She suddenly seems so big to me now bthat little Des is part of the crew.

The pictures are random (but so are my thoughts lately), and I'll get some of Tannon and Skyler playing ball next Saturday.

On another note, isn't it great that other people are blessed with the talents that we're lacking in, and that they are so willing to share those talents with everyone??? From the people who play the hymns in church, to the neighbors that bring yummy food, to those who have the talent to teach my kids in school, and one of my favorites...quilting! I've never really tried to quilt, but I assume that since I can't even manage to sew on my boys' scout patches, then I probably won't be able to quilt. Perhaps I'm selling myself short, but I think not! But I pulled out some of the quilts that I've received for my last couple of babies, and thought I'd share.

The purple one was made by our young women in Las Vegas (in other words, Tonya made it with the assistance of the young women). I love it so much that I've never even allowed her to actually use it. It's been a wall hanging quilt in her room instead, so we can 'look, but not touch'.

The blue and yellow one is from my sister, Kim. She's always making blankets for my babies, but she has just recently really started quilting. She's really good at it, but why don't these things run in families?

The last one, was just delivered the other day, and I really love it. One of my sweet beehives made it along with her mom (my visiting teacher) for Desmond. It is so cute, and all of the fabrics are just adorable. But my favorite part is the label that she put on back, where she hand stitched Desmonds name and birthday and birth weight. How cool would it be to be able to do such things as a thirteen year old!?

Pondering...

I sure wish I had something interesting to write about, but my mind is an empty pallet right now! I'm definitely full of gratitude for healthy kids, a sweet new baby, great friends, freezer meals (thanks to great friends and young women), mothers (to be one and to have a great one), bran flakes (yep, the post pregnancy breakfast that saves the world!), the cooler weather, fresh garden tomatoes (just can't get enough), and a comfy couch to sleep on (since my bed isn't working for me quite yet). So there we have it...nothing exciting, but my tired mind does have plenty of time to ponder all of the blessings that I've received lately!
