So a fellow blogger friend of mine, recently posted about 'LENT'. She decided that she would try to test her will and take part in the catholic tradition by giving up sweets. She didn't last long. So then I started thinking about what I would give up. And I'm sure glad that I'm not catholic! My two weaknesses in life are popcorn and the show 'Prison Break'. (And yes, I'm aware that I'm not going to be translated any time soon!) I've never ever missed an episode, and since I record them, and I love to watch them while I run...I think I've seen most episodes at least three times. I know, it's such a huge waste of time! So anyways, in honor of Lent, I thought I would try and give up my own guilty pleasure...Prison Break. But I have also decided to change the rules a little. I'm going to wait until spring to start my Lent. In other words, I'll wait until AFTER the season finale, and I'll last all the way until fall (the new season premier)! I know my limits!

Pancake Anyone?
This morning I made pancakes for the boys before school (I must be feeling ambitious today!). By the time Myah woke up, everyone was already gone. So we made a giant pancake with all of the batter that was left over. Myah was pretty excited. She won't even make a dent in this 'bountiful breakfast' but sometimes its fun to try!

Family Time
I figured it was time that I had better pick up on watching football...being completely outnumbered on the boy/girl ratio at our house. So this year I took the plunge and dedicated my Sunday afternoons to football! Needless to say, watching the SuperBowl last night was a highly anticipated event at our house. I can't say that I have been a Giants fan throughout the season, but I always always always want to see the underdog come out on top. So it was so much fun to see Eli Manning pull this one off, and actually brought tears to my eyes (its those pregnancy hormones) to see big brother up in the booth, just about hit the roof with excitement when little bro threw the winning pass! So maybe we weren't TOTALLY breaking the sabbath, since we did have the opportunity to talk about...families and how we support eachother and we will always be there for eachother, etc. etc. (How's that for justification!?)

I've Been Tagged!
So Maria tagged me a few days ago, and since my creativity levels have been about equal to my energy levels lately, I am just now going to try and get this done. So I'm supposed to write six interesting things about me, and then tag six other people. Unfortunately, I don't have six blogging friends, but I'll do what I can! I figured that since this is our family blog, and I am supposed to write six interesting things about myself...I'll break it up and write one thing about each family member so here goes...
Derrick...loves his family. I know, every dad does. He loves our parents and he loves the kids, that's a given. But what amazes me is the time that he invests into building relationships with nieces and nephews (especially as they become teenagers)and even my grandparents. I never really knew his grandparents, but he has always been so good to my grandpa and my grandma. I'm pretty sure that Grandpa Joe liked him better than me! I think it's pretty cool, but he just does it because he enjoys it. I just know that when we go to family functions, I won't see much of him because he's always off playing with the kids, and that's ok...
Me...I love FOOD!!! I love to look at food, smell food, shop for food, prepare food, and of course...eat food! I especially love produce. One of my favorite treats is to make an entire meal out of the garden at the end of summer, using all of the veggies and even fresh herbs. I even love to make food look pretty! Derrick thinks is pretty ridiculous when I pull out a big platter and garnish our dinner to make it look beautiful. Sometimes when we have family over for dinner, I make a point of NOT embellishing dinner because I think they'll all laugh at me! I love to eat at restaraunts so that I can taste something really great and then go home and try to copy the recipe (sometimes it works, and other times...not so great). My idea of a perfect afternoon date would be to go to a fresh farmers market and look at and try the beautiful fresh food! One of my greatest memories is when we visited Pike Street Market in Seattle (I think that's the name) and just walked through looking at all of the fresh foods and flowers and, of course, grabbed a bag of the 'daily dozen' which are these hot little donuts that they shake into a brown bag with cinnamon sugar) Mmmmm, I think I'm getting hungry!
Skyler...has the best laugh you've ever heard. The older he gets, the less often we get to hear it, but every once in a while we get an unexpected treat! One of my favorite things is to pull out old movies of when Skyler was little and hear his laugh. I can't even describe it, but it makes me laugh to even think about!
Zac...is his father reincarnated. Maybe that's why I enjoy Zac so much. He really and truly is just a miniature Derrick. He has the good qualities of his dad, like being so sensitive to other's needs, and being sooo great with little people, and his quiet sense of humor. He takes after Derrick in his love of and talent for hiking (the kid can seriously hike). But he also has Derrick's quirky characteristics, like his lack of attention to detail, and his occasional memory lapses (which we have learned to deal with)!
Tannon...LOVES to eat spaghetti. I mean, the kid is skin and bones, and you would think he's not much of an eater. But when we make spaghetti for dinner, he eats a giant 'man sized' plate of spaghetti without thinking twice! I can't quite figure out where all of that spaghetti goes!
Myah...is a social butterfly! Not sure where she got it from, but she has so many friends! It is amazing that a little three year old can have a better social life than the rest of the family put together. She constantly has friends and neighbors calling to play, and she just does so well with them. Never has a problem getting along with anyone. No tears were shed when she started primary a few weeks ago!
So there you have it! Now I'm supposed to tag some other people, but if you haven't noticed, my contact list isn't exactly long. I need more friends to take up blogging!
